Scripture reference: Exodus 3:2; Romans 12:1; Hebrews 12:21
Knowledge that we are not condemned and that sin has no power over us because we are the beloved of God empowers us to live the godly life. One aspect of living the right-being life is being a sacrifice unto God; ablaze with untameable fire.
The continual burning of a sacrifice upon the altar is of great importance to God (Numbers 28). The Lord is pleased with the daily savour and aroma as well as pleasantness of a living sacrifice.
The burning of the bush as revealed to Moses is an allegory of our Christian walk; burning in and up and not burning out or down as a living sacrifice. The problem with a living sacrifice is that it can crawl off the altar but let it not be you.
“As he is so are we in this world” for “our God is a consuming fire”; blazing up in holiness, love, grace, truth and that is the life that Paul, by the Holy Spirit, admonishes us to live in Romans 12:1. In Christ we are made holy and acceptable (1 Corinthians 1:30; Ephesians 1:6). All we need to do is remain on the altar, trusting God, resting passive in His arms, believing on the finished work of Jesus, renewed daily by the refiner’s fire and exuding fragrances of grace and truth.
Dear fired up sacrifice of God, do not leave the altar for God loves you.
