Scripture reference: Ephesians 5:8; John 1:5; Matthew 5:14; John 8:12
“For you were sometimes darkness, but now light in the Lord”
As dearly beloved sons and daughters of the Most High God we become lights the very instant we confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ on our lives. For by sin and the choice of the first Adam darkness was upon us all yet this darkness was not just upon us but was our very nature.
After an overhaul translation into Jesus Christ we become lights – lights to this dark world and as Jesus was the light when he walked the earth so are we now, emanating His glory and grace. Why? Because “as he is so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17; 1:7)
Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” and as lights we have to shine. What do we shine as lights then, ourselves? No, but Christ; his nature of love, grace, truth, faithfulness, obedience, kindness, etc. as the Scripture rightly says, “Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:23).
Now, we have the ministry of reconciliation; reconciling the world unto God (2 Corinthians 5:18,19), telling them of His grace and truth that for Jesus’ sake their sins are not upon their heads, to come into the wonderful walk of love, light and grace.
As lights, dear friend, you only need shine and that by the fuel called the Holy Spirit, living the light life through us as the Father wills.
Go and shine!
