Scripture : Romans 4:25; I Corinthians 15:17; Romans 6:4; Ephesians 1:19-20
“Who was delivered for our sins and was raised again for our justification”
Christians across the globe acknowledge the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and express gratitude for this gift of grace. But do we really understand why the resurrection was imperative?
He died in our place, for our sins, but without a resurrection from the dead all would have been in vain.
The resurrection from the dead by Jesus is our receipt that we are very saved and justified from all sin. It is the only proof that when we sleep here on earth we awake to a glorious hereafter. Therefore that becomes a foundation for our faith and the very reason why we worship on Sundays as the Lord’s Day.
The apostle Paul acknowledged that, “if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins”. The resurrection is the cool reason we are sinless now. God almighty used a great deal of power to make this happen (Ephesians 1:19-20) hence the Scripture describes the force as, “the working of his mighty power”.
When we buy a product from a retail shop, the only justification that you bought something from that particular shop is the receipt given at purchase.
The vital essence of our holiness and eternal life is that Jesus had his body on ice waiting for resurrection and the deal was made.
Therefore beloved, blush not at the question of the essence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ but boldly proclaim the complete transaction for our salvation, “for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”(Acts 4:12)
