But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.2 Corinthians 3:14-16
If Failing to acknowledge the law of gravity because you do not believe in it will not exclude you from a fall when you trip from a high altitude then, Failing to acknowledge the finished work of Christ because you can’t just bring yourself to accept and believe the truth that it is actually finished, harms no one but yourself eventually.
We need to reach the point where we come to the realization of the truth that, by strength shall no man prevail, we need only rely on Christ and His finished works on the cross.
He did all the work that needed to be done therefore there is nothing for us to do than to surrender to Him, that’s our only Job. Why? Because when you surrender, He works through you to accomplish His purpose in your life here on earth.
It is recorded that, when Moses returned from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the law, his face shone and glowed with God’s glory, and the children of Israel were afraid to come near Moses (Exo. 34:30).
Therefore, Moses had to put a veil on his face while speaking with them. So the people could only see God’s glory through the veil. Sadly, many of us today, like the Jews of old, are still beholding God’s glory through the veil as revealed by the Apostle Paul In our focal scripture.
This scripture reveals why many of us still can not grasp the totality of the gospel of grace.
You see, When you view an object through a veil, your perception, observation, or description of the object will certainly be inaccurate because you are not seeing the object as it is.
Similarly, when you approach or behold God’s Word with a veiled mind, your interpretation and understanding of the Scripture will be biased and inaccurate, thereby resulting in a wrong application of God’s Word to your life and situation.
Many believers today are not being transformed increasingly into Christlikeness in spite of beholding, reading, hearing, or listening to God’s Word daily or regularly. Why?
Because of the veils on their minds!
As a result of their veiled minds, they are always reading their preferred meanings and preconceived ideas into God’s Word, thereby speaking to themselves rather than God speaking to them through His Word and making God’s Word of no effect in their lives (Mark. 7:13).
Any veil you allow to remain on your mind will impair or distort your vision or revelation of Jesus Christ. It will blind your mind to the true love, nature, glory, power, and character of Christ.
You cannot be changed or transformed progressively into Christlikeness by God’s Word and Spirit if you allow the veil of religion, culture, human tradition or philosophy to remain on your mind.
Do not harden your heart and mind even now as the Lord stands at the door of your heart constantly and persistently knocking to let Him in so He can make your life better.
To end, if you’d forget everything here try to remember these last words…
An unveiled face equals a hardened heart and mind – that which cannot be transformed.
To be transformed into the image of God, you’ve got to let go and let God.
