“But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13).
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Cor. 5:17).
The greatest work ever done on earth was the perfect finished work of Jesus on the cross. No man ever gave a resounding scream of a finished work that shook hell to its core and still does today or transforms a man completely into a new species than this.
To be a son in this world is to be born into a particular family thereby sharing blood, relations and others or by adoption which by legal means is possible. Now, in Christ we are known as the adopted sons (Gal. 4:5) and also the begotten (or born) of God. God bought us at a price – His Son and birthed us in Him to be family with Him that we would be royalties and receive the inheritance even as Christ would. That is the new creature. He is one unknown to the world but to God. He thinks differently, reacts differently, and acts differently yet not different from Christ Jesus because we are being conformed into His image. As we daily look into the mirror of God (a previous devotion on this website has this explained) we are transformed continually to God’s image right here on earth.
That which a man creates is different from him save on which he begets and God in all His infinite wisdom begets us so that as He is so truly are we in this world. There is no other way. This is the only way to live the God-kind of life that humans ought to possess, which is by far the best state of man even than Adam. For Adam was created and hence did not have God’s nature built in him but we do and that is our restful faith.
Does anyone have anything to do with where and how we were born into this world? No, simply. What of the family we descend from? We grew to realize, this is my brother or sister or father or mother but to be born of God is a choice (which I beseech all of us to choose) and the only one that matters to eternity. All you have to do is believe on Jesus and His perfect finished work on the cross and you are saved and instantly a family with God Almighty. What a privilege to call God, Father and to nestle in His arms. Only believe and you receive that power of sonship (or daughtership [Ha ha ha]) and instantly become a new creature, not subject to things of this world but of God only. Is there any good news than this?
