“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”(2 Pet. 1:2-3).
How blessed is our heavenly Father who has blessed us with all things in Christ. We did not deserve it, we could not earn it but our Jesus paid the full penalty for us and opened the gateway of grace unending for us. Wow! We have been hearing about godliness all our lives. I’ll talk about blessings and prosperity today.
Did I say blessings and prosperity? Yes! I do not know why the church for some centuries debunk the word “prosperity” in the pulpits yet call for supports for church building, missions and etc. Poor people never gave much to speed the transmission of the gospel, rich ones do. Besides, the gospel is prosperity! How so? Abraham was very rich (Gen. 13:2), so was Isaac, David and oh Solomon (we know that guy and his chat with God and the subsequent progression of prosperity in his life).
These are just a few but they were not poor guys. What is prosperity? It is more than just having much money; it encompasses good health (what is the essence if you have money but spend them on drugs?), healthy family, good business or work and above all soundness of mind(…and of a sound mind [2 Tim. 1:17]).
What does it mean when the Scripture says, “the diligent hand shall be made rich” (Prov. 10:4)? We work hard to earn money and status to make godly choices for this world. We live here on earth and it is either we let the devil run it by his possessing of people while we complain as they make the rules or we get out there and make the change we want to see. Seems to me God makes rich anyone whom He calls, much more He who is born of Himself. The rich never beget the poor and because we are born of the Word of God we have no choice but are blessed. It is a kingdom requirement!
Our Father has given us ALL THINGS that pertain to LIFE and GODLINESS. Notice the Word does not say that just godliness but all that relates to life as well. What is all that pertain to life? Your career, your finances, your marriage, your social life, everything that affects you or you affect God has it taken care of. It literally means all that you would ever ask for or need is satisfied in Christ already. All you need to do to access it is thank God for it and walk by faith to it.
But how does one know this truth to walk therein? The opening Scripture tells us it is through the knowledge of Him. You see, until you search the Scriptures, study it and meditate thereon you cannot unlock who you are and what you have in Christ Jesus…And there is so much more to discover over eternity.
Beloved, there is so much more to this Christian life that pages cannot elucidate but we must know that all these blessings are because of the perfect finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. Your blessings are complete in Him even as we are because it is all finished. Walking a blessed man is a choice, like an inheritance; you can refute it or claim it. It is yours to decide.
